Coils Coils Coils!!!

One of my most frequently asked questions is how i do my hair in the coils. It is very easy, and if your hair is natural, you can wear it this way without locing it. I, however, use this method to start locs. I have loced 3 heads this way... I like it because it is a style that you can really keep your hands out of, and you really don't have to do anything to maintain it.

Project Life Week 2

For week 2, I was still trying to get into the groove of how I wanted this project to flow, the layout, and how I wanted to incorporate other items beyond what was in the kit. I was also trying to decide how "strict" I wanted to be to the format/layout....

Documenting the second set of locs

I loced my hair the first time (10yrs ago) I did a great job documenting their progress. Aubrey, not so much..... Now that I started our second set I really want to document the journey.

I started our hair the week of  June 27, 2010
Of course I didn't take a picture that day.

So I am just positing what I can find....

The only reason the above photo made the cut, is because Aubrey's head is in the shot.

Project Life: 365 days of documenting life....

Sooooo.

I decided to take on the ambitious Project 365 or Project Life to document 2011. I can't believe I am already in week 7. Once you get started, it really does get easier. I think the hardest part is choosing the picture to use.

You can read a bit about Project Life here.

Project Life is an extremely easy approach to document your everyday life.
You can make this project your own, it does not have to be a picture a day, however that is the approach I am using. This is the first year I am participating in PL and so far I LOVE it!

Here is some of what i have accomplished:

Intro Page:

Wonder Woman for MAC...a quick review.

This little review is for those of you who actually care what my thoughts are on the new Wonder Woman collection from MAC.

First let me start off by saying I didn't buy anything from this collection. Now that does not mean that there wasn't anything worth buying...I just means there wasn't anything worth me buying. With that said, here are the highlights of the collection (in my opinion)

  1.  Mineralize Skinfinish - I am a big fan of this stuff. Which is why when I found out that these were going to be SUPER SIZED powders,  I was SUPER EXCITED - until I saw them. If you are like me and always get Mineralize Skinfinish every time it comes out, then you will see that you already have these colors.... and with the $42 price tag, I figured I might as well sit this one out.  Now, for those of you that don't have any Mineralize Skinfinish powders, sure I recommend them!!! I use them everywhere!  They can be used to contour, as a bronzer, as a blush, a finishing powder, highlighter, and as eyeshadow!!! For my brown girls, the obvious choice would be "Golden Lariat" (the darker tone) but don't underestimate "Pink Power" (the light tone) if you can find it. It was sold out all over the city the first day.
  2. Wonder Woman  Lipglass in Wonder Woman- OK so these are the biggest lipglasses I have ever seen!  If you are daring enough to wear red, then this is the lipglass for you! It looks beautiful over Russian Red
  3. Wonder Woman Opulash- I like mascara, and Opulash is one of my favorites. But I really like colored mascara, so I was kinda excited when I found out these came in different colors (green, blue, purple and black). Like I said, haven't bought anything from the collection, but I might just go back and get one of these...
  4. Wonder Woman Eyeshadow x4 in Valiant - I like green, which is why I like this quad, I know I have colors similar to these, but they are just so pretty. If the green is a bit much for you, the other quad I recommend is the Defiance quad. It is made up of pinks and purples which are very easy to wear.
Over all, for me, this collection is just ok.  But for those of you who are Wonder Woman fanatics, or just MAC fanatics that have to have something from every collection, it's cute. 2 out of 4 stars for me....

Hair

After cutting my hair back in 2009, I have missed my locs. So in June 2010 I started my second set. By December 2010 I was fully locked. By this I mean I could wash my hair without it unraveling. Sure my ends aren't fully locked, but that is ok.

I started this set, like my previous set by coiling it. For me, this process is much easier, and I am less prone to mess with my hair when it is styled this way.
So right now I go back and forth between wearing it coiled, wearing it out, or wearing it curled.
Because of it's length, that's about all I can do right now unless I wear the occasional headwrap.

Coiled Locs.

My husband is also locing his hair again.  I started his the same time I started mine. I am going to try to document his progress as well.
